News: 15 Year Old Commits Suicide in School Bathroom, School Receives Bomb Threat Just Hours Later

According to police, no other students were in the bathroom with her at the time. THEN later in the day, school officials received a bomb threat and had to evacaute the building. A Texas high school freshman fatally shot herself inside a school bathroom as her classmates walked the hallways and sat in classrooms outside, authorities said.

The 15-year-old girl apparently brought a gun to Leander High School and committed suicide while classes were in session Monday. No other students were present when the gunshot was fired, officials said.

"The Leander High School family is sad to report that a student took her own life," school district spokeswoman Veronica Sopher said in a statement.

"Authorities were notified and believe it to be an isolated incident."

Police released no other details about the victim or the tragedy.

Already shaken students at the school were evacuated later in the day when school officials received a bomb threat after the fatal shooting, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

Students were kept outside the building for about a half hour before school resumed.

"The police haven't given us any indication that there are any additional security concerns," Sopher told the Texas newspaper.
