News: Shooting at Indiana School

A student was shot Friday at a middle school in south-central Indiana and a suspect is in custody, state police said.
Sgt. Kirk Durnil says the victim was shot twice in the stomach Friday morning outside the cafeteria at West Middle School in Martinsville.

The shooter, a 15-year-old boy, is a recently expelled student, according to local press reports. The brother of the suspect was also reportedly detained.

The unidentified victim, whose condition is unknown, was transported to Methodist Hospital, Fox59.com reports.
Authorities say they believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute that began at a school dance last weekend, according to wthr.com.

“We’re trying to piece together what happened,” Sgt. Dave Bursten said.
The school, roughly 30 miles south Indianapolis, has about 600 students. All schools in Martinsville have been locked down following the shooting.
